In 2024 Five Star Outdoors is celebrating 10 years of being one of Australia’s leading suppliers and go to businesses for all things outdoor blinds and home and lifestyle improvements. Including, but not limited to – outdoor blinds, roller shutters, louvre screens, spas and roof restorations.
Early in 2014, Laurie Mallia embarked on a mission to redefine outdoor living solutions with the founding of Five Star Spas. With over two decades of experience in the home improvement and pool and spa industry, Laurie’s vision was clear: to create a business that offered not just products, but experiences that helped to improve people’s lifestyles.
The early years were marked by a steadfast commitment to quality and service, with an absolute focus on premium Australian-made spas. Laurie’s dedication resonated with customers and Five Star Spas quickly gained recognition for its exceptional offerings. This included awards from SPASA for “Best Spa Retailer” – Gold for South Australia 2014 and Silver Nationally in 2015, affirming the company’s commitment to excellence.
Later in 2014, the company had expanded its reach, establishing a presence at the Home Ideas Centre in Adelaide. This move provided customers with convenient access to view and gather information about the products and setting a stage for further growth.
The year 2016 marked a significant milestone as Five Star Spas rebranded as Five Star Outdoors whilst moving into our new premises in Marion offering more variety to our customers. This transition represented more than just a name change; it signalled a shift towards becoming a comprehensive one-stop-shop for outdoor living solutions.
In 2018, the business took another leap forward with the addition of Will Valenza as a business partner. Together, Laurie and Will expanded Five Star Outdoors presence, cementing their position as local experts for all outdoor solutions in Adelaide. Within this growth both Laurie and Will saw significant success within the business, forging good supplier relationships with ALL Australian Made manufacturers.
A true family-owned local SA business had emerged and prided itself on service, best warranties and general best practises for its many residential and commercial clients including some of Adelaide’s top private schools, council chambers and ultra-modern new car dealerships. Five Star Outdoors prides itself on our exceptional online reviews which affirm their commitment to customer satisfaction.
The following year in 2019 saw the relocation to more suitable offices in Brighton, enabling an expansion into regional Victoria and New South Wales. This move underscored Five Star Outdoors commitment to serving customers across Australia.
The team also quickly outgrew their Triton work utes and as a result, now a small fleet of vans and vehicles for consultants and a full time service man.
2024 marked a monumental moment in the company’s journey as it established its national headquarters on Henley Beach Road in Torrensville. With a nationwide footprint spanning South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, Five Star Outdoors continues to enhance outdoor lifestyles for customers nationwide.
